Christian Harder - Popland




He juggles his aliases like some people play around with chainsaws. Kandisquer, The Hypnotoad, Kid Q...each one painstakingly devised to infiltrate the relevant clusters of the big music circus. For the past four years he has been conducting research, aided by computer, guitar and microphone, on beer dripping stages in all the right dives, fanning the flames of a far too tame club culture, grabbing the odd dance charts spot here and there, before things get any worse.
Now, with 24 of age, he surrenders his true identity in exchange for a record deal with Wonder Records. Polite producer that he is, respectful towards his colleagues, Christian Harder has not entered the realm of Wonder banging the drum with "album" written on it, no he has opted for the calling card approach of a 12 inch single "Popoland".
Riding around his homemade techno song topography in an opend topped tank, spouting expletive contemporary revolutionary verse, enhanced by melodic choruses and electric geetar pinball table riffs. The quite nasty 44 Apes remix sees the restrained executive producer take over wheel, pushing the eject buttom at every bridge, and kaboom away he flies out of the landscape, just to show us, that after all it was only a song whose strings he pulls all alone with the effects box in his hand.
SiBegg (aka Simon Begg aka cabbage boy aka buckfunk3000) the "noodles"-specialist from Brighton seems to think that "Popland" is in a spacious underground garage, where Harder plays a singing Transformer Robot about to win a bass bangin' B Boy contest, victory organ included in the wreckage. Viktor Marek / 8doggymoto meanwhile is drilling for bogies in "Popland", sadly with some success, his hens cackle as if to say "Look here Harder, I found this in your nose". Viktor Marek can get away with it as he and Harder go way back (down) to Hamburg's Golden Poodle Club, where Harder got his elementary school certificate.
